Classic Banana Cream Pie with Chocolate Recipe Ingredients
Crust:
1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 oz semi-sweet chocolate
Filling:
4 egg yolks
½ cup sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
3 cups milk
2 tbs butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 bananas.

In a mixing bowl, whisk yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and ½ cup of milk together.
In a saucepan, heat the remaining 2 ½ cups of milk until just at a simmer.
Whisk hot milk into the yolk mixture, then pour the resulting mix back into the pot and continue to heat on medium/low.
Stir constantly until it thickens up (it will take about 5 minutes).
Add butter and vanilla.
Pour into a bowl, and drape plastic wrap directly on the surface of the custard.
Refrigerate for 2 hours..
In another mixing bowl, combine graham crumbs with butter.
Press into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate.
Refrigerate for about half an hour, until it firms up. .
Melt chocolate, and spread over the bottom of the crust
. Refrigerate that for another 10 minutes to firm the chocolate.
Spoon about half of the custard mixture into the crust (don't stir first).
Add a layer of banana slices, and then the remaining filling.
Cover again with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 more hours, or until well chilled. .
